1. Information We Collect

• Account information — your name, username, phone number or email address, and profile photo.
• Trip content — the trips you create or join, schedules, places, budgets and expenses, attachments, and chat messages (text and voice).
• Location information — see Section 2 below.
• Photos and camera — only when you choose to add a photo to your profile, a trip, an attachment, or a chat message.
• Microphone — only when you press record to send a voice message. We never record audio automatically or in the background.
• Device and diagnostic data — device model, operating system, app version, and crash reports.

2. Location Information

Weway collects precise and approximate location data, including while the app is in the background or closed. This happens only after you turn on the "Share my location" switch for a specific trip. Location sharing is optional and the app works without it.

Background access is needed so your trip members can keep seeing where you are while you are driving with the screen off, with the app closed, or after your phone restarts during a trip.

While sharing is active, a permanent notification stays visible on your device. You can stop sharing at any time from within the app or by revoking the location permission in your device settings, and collection stops immediately.

We never use your location for advertising, and we never sell it.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To let you create, join and manage trips
• To show your location to your trip members when you enable location sharing
• To display maps, distances and routes in the app
• To send you notifications about your trips and messages
• To improve the app, fix crashes, and keep the service secure

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in these cases:

• With your trip members — your location (when you enable sharing) and your trip content are visible to the members of that trip only. They are never public.
• With service providers — Mapbox (maps, geocoding and routing), Google Firebase (push notifications), and Sentry (crash reporting). They receive only what they need to provide their service and may not use it for their own purposes.
• When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Data Security

Data is transmitted between the app and our servers over an encrypted connection, and we use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration or loss.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Live location is not archived as a history of your movements; we keep only the last position you shared so it can be displayed to your trip members, and it is deleted when the trip or your account is deleted.

You can request deletion of your account and its data at any time from the account settings in the app, or by emailing us. Deletion is completed within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Weway is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change, and we will notify users of any significant changes within the app.
